Being a parent of a small person means you’re not only busy keeping them alive and teaching them to be decent human beings, but you’re also now responsible for a lot more stuff.
Here are my top three tips for keeping your kids’ things organized:
Sort and edit frequently
Preferences for toys quickly change, so try to get rid of (donate! sell!) the things your kid’s no longer need - think clothes they have grown out of and gear and toys they no longer use.We set aside 30 minutes per month to sort through toy baskets and closets to determine what’s outgrown and it makes the world of difference.
Use bins and baskets
This increases accessibility for kids and helps everyone see what’s available. If you don’t see it, you won’t use it. Bonus that this helps kids put things back, too.
Teach tidying up
Instilling good clean-up habits from a early age will help you corral kid’s clutter for years to come. Remind kids to put things back where they found them — a place for everything and everything in it’s place!
